Klang- und Abstrahlungsanalyse von mehrkanaligen Gamelan Klangsamples

Hohl Fabian

This project covers the completion of a framework implemented in PD. The main task of framework is to do partial tracking analysis on multiple multichannel audio files, automatically. Essentially, the analysis provides data for investigations on multichannel recordings of Gamelan-Instruments, captured at the institute's. In a first step, employing an auditory model, a spectrum analysis of the multichannel recording is performed. For the overall sound of a musical instrument, the sum of the multichannel spectra is an important descriptor. Additionally, a masking function shall be obtained from the spectra of the descrete tracks. The framework includes partial- tracking of the entire sound and the automated analysis of associated radiation patterns. The goal of the partial-tracking is to find and track the most important partials of the instrumental sound. So in a future step, it will be possible to synthesize the sounds acoustically, combining the partial-tracking and radiation data. In the written part of the project, the framework shall be be presented, and interesting results on Gamelan-Instruments will be exhibited and discussed.
