Investigations on temporal, simultaneous and spectral masking
Christian Kranzler
The goal of this PhD thesis is to find out more about the mutual masking of neigbouring sound sources at the basis of subjective evaluations. This means in particular to gather information of the function principle of the human ear when processing spatial sound sources. We want to find out which influence the source position has on masking, appart from the temporal and simultaneous masking. With all the information collected in these investigations a data reduction algorithm for 3D audio (e.g. ambisonics) could be developed.
