The IEM does scientific research and application developments. As an institute of the Universitiy of Art, sientific work is closly related to artistic realisations. Togehter with partner from the cultural sector and industry we set our focus to following themes:

• recording and playback technics
• signalprocessing, sound analysis and synthesis.
• realtime computermusic software
• internet archive of electronic music

Students will be included at early stages in the research and artistic production.

As a dicussion platform for new scientific ideas the IEM does a series of lectures called "CUBE Lectures"
