Usability Evaluation of transparent hearing (Audio Mixed Reality)
The field of transparent hearing in the sense of mixed (or augmented) audio is becoming more and more relevant nowadays. Headphones combined with binaural microphones are used to provide the perception of sound-sources embedded in the sound-field surrounding the listener. The main emphasis of this particular TI-project lies on transparent hearing applications in a real-life environment, e.g. for improving the quality of conversation while using portable audio devices, or the ability to interact with the environment. An experimental setup will be built to enable the mobile use of such a system. Listening tests will be performed to evaluate different configurations according their usability, in the aforementioned scenarios.
