Entwicklung eines Lästigkeitsindex für Straßenverkehrslärm
In conformance to the actual standards and calculation specifications the impact of noise is represented by the A-weighted equivalent noise level. But with this term the subjective disturbance of noise can not be described adequate. The annoyance index for traffic noise (project at the technical University of Graz) would be a better instrument, to describe the subjective effects of noise to people.
In the context of this project a master thesis as a pre study shall be worked out for this annoyance index for traffic noise. It shall be found out in a detailed literature which methods there are for the annoyance in the traffic. The adaptation of a psycho acoustical laboratory for hearing experiments on the Institute of Highway Engineering and Transportation Planning at the technical University of Graz shall be carried out.
By means of different recording systems of the stereophonic sound system a database shall be made for different vehicle noises in different categories (vehicle type, speed, road surfacing, volume of traffic etc.). By means of signal processing different effects (distance, shielding) shall be modelled. In the planning and execution of a psycho acoustical pre-test examinations different from test subjects (test of the setup, test of the presentation form, scale standard, validity, precision, etc.) shall be carried out by means of reduced noise ensembles and a small number of test persons.
Aim of the complete project is to carry out a psycho acoustical hearing test with a large number of test persons and developing an annoyance index for traffic noise.
