This thesis Digital implementation of analog sound synthesis methods is concerned with the development of signals and systems with analog characteristics by means of digital signal processing.
The study is about aliasing and quantization errors due to discrete time representation of signals and signal truncation. The algorithms are also analyzed with respect to their computation time.
A general view of analog sound synthesis is followed by a selection of special modules of analog synthesizers, which are particularly difficult to implement for digital applications.
This thesis deals primarily with the realization of signal oscillators and filters. Further topics are noise generator, linear-exponential-converter, ringmodulator, voltage controlled amplifier as well as flanger and phaser.
Two selected algorithms for oscillators and filters are implemented for the IRCAM signal processing workstation.
